Stone mullion windows are a popular component of many properties in the Somerset and Dorset area but it is not always easy to know how to introduce the better energy efficiency that double glazing offers to these stunning architectural features. A common concern is that fitting frames to stone mullions may reduce the amount of light received into your property. However, forgoing the frame and sticking with single glazing will not offer UValues comparable to double glazing. It is understandable then that you will want a slim frame for your double glazed units. A frame which is not imposing and yet allows you to incorporate sealed units into the home you want to make as comfortable as possible.
We recently installed Smart Alitherm Heritage odd-leg frames to this property in Seavington St Mary. The frames were powder coated in Cream, RAL 9001, on white which looks stunning next to the stone mullions. We can request the frames to be coated in any RAL code so you have a huge choice of colour: it’s almost impossible not to love at least one!
The clean lines these frames provide look truly fabulous against the expertly crafted stone work: the aesthetic is one of precision, tradition and unity.
